Robot/REPLAY Team
with Robot/SCHEDULE to automate those unautomatable interactive tasks
Everyone likes Robot/SCHEDULE, the job
scheduler, because it runs their reports and closings; because a
Robot/SCHEDULE-operated iSeries runs more smoothly, more reliably, and with
fewer operational crises; and because it reduces the need for off-shift
operators, saving large amounts of money. However, some of you can't enjoy the
benefits of Robot/SCHEDULE because you use interactive applications that make
you fill out a screen before submitting a batch job.
Automate the
unautomatable
Robot/REPLAY, the plug-in for Robot/SCHEDULE, automates the interactive
processes you use to submit a batch job. Simply start Robot/ REPLAY and submit
your job. As you work, Robot/REPLAY "learns" the screen images you
see and the information you enter into those screens, and stores the images and
information in a Robot/REPLAY object. When Robot/SCHEDULE executes your Replay
object, a special Robot/REPLAY session starts. Robot/REPLAY calls your initial
program and mimics, keystroke for keystroke, what you did to run the
application.
No device conflicts
With Robot/REPLAY you can specify the type of device the object should use.
Replay objects run smoothly because there are no conflicts between the object
and the device.
Track and record your
Replay objects
Robot/REPLAY comes with powerful print and job features. You can print your
object images to create a hardcopy record, follow an object's job trail and
display the job logs, and use Robot/REPLAY's Object Information panel for
detailed job information. And, you can copy and edit a Replay object.
Transport files quickly
Robot/REPLAY supports TCP/IP and FTP, so you can teach Robot/REPLAY to use FTP
to send a file to another iSeries system, a UNIX workstation, a PC, or a Web
site, automatically.
Update information automatically
Robot/REPLAY can automate an interactive program even if screen values--such as
date ranges--have to be changed every time you run the application.
Robot/REPLAY supports Robot/ SCHEDULE reserved command variables, system-wide
values used throughout our product line. You can use them to communicate
changing information to Robot/REPLAY and our other products.
Hassle-free iSeries operation
Robot/SCHEDULE and Robot/REPLAY let interactive and batch jobs react to one
another to create a closing procedure, or a nightly run, that runs
unattended--on different iSeries systems, on time, and in the proper order.
Before you needed an operator; now, you just need Robot/ REPLAY,
