Complete backup automation and disaster protection and recovery
A major concern of your IT department is having
a safe and reliable iSeries backup and recovery system in place. However, any
system is prone to error—and possible disaster—if too much human
interaction is required. By automating the routine (and sometimes complex)
tasks of iSeries backup and recovery, you save both time and money.
Robot/SAVE automates the functions of disk
drive backup, system restoration, and save media management. Once the system is
set up, little human interaction is needed to do recurring backups, making
Robot/SAVE the most comprehensive disaster protection and recovery system
available for the iSeries. Contact
Us today to learn more about Robot/SAVE.
New Release brings encrypted
backups
Your iSeries corporate data exists in an unsecured format in
an easily transportable media much of which is sent off site.
Address this huge security hole with fast reliable encrypted
backups in the new version of Robot/SAVE.
Save the day
You schedule libraries, lists of objects, IFS files, and attached clients for
automatic backup using the same techniques and procedures. Robot/SAVE uses a
unique concept in automatic backups—the “backup set.” A Robot/SAVE backup
set describes all the procedures required to do a recurring backup, including
customised media management procedures and before- and after-save instructions.
You specify the type of save operation and Robot/SAVE performs your saves as
instructed, day after day, night after night—automatically. It even backs up
new libraries.
Back up clients using
your iSeries
You don’t need a separate backup utility for the clients attached to your
iSeries. Robot/SAVE works with Robot/CLIENT,
the client event manager, to back up your client machines using the same
procedures and strategies you use for your iSeries backups. Robot/SAVE brings
automated backup, recovery, and archiving to attached clients.
Customise your
backups with Robot/CORRAL
Robot/SAVE includes Robot/CORRAL (FREE!), the object selection manager, to
build a customised list of objects to save or restore. Robot/CORRAL offers
three object selection methods that bring flexibility to your backups:
Automatic, Pathfinder, or Manual. Each method allows you to specify selection
criteria so the objects you save or restore are exactly what you need—every
time. With Robot/CORRAL, you can create object lists containing IFS files,
iSeries objects, directories, or any combination. Add or delete objects from
the list at any time or have Robot/CORRAL update the object list automatically.
Exact instructions eliminate errors
Robot/SAVE’s Save Media Management system eliminates error-prone tape
handling practices by providing exact instructions. An options window provides
instant access to any volume management procedure. Auto-move processing tracks
tapes as they move from one location to the next. Reports assist you with
planning your media operations, as well as providing a detailed audit trail of
your media volumes.
Data Centre Management
Robot/SAVE offers a powerful data centre management system that gives you the
ability to manage your volumes across several systems. Robot/SAVE routes the
volume-related information in its database to all systems in the data centre,
ensuring that the systems remain in sync with each other. You can perform
volume management and reporting tasks from any system defined to the data
centre. And, you can create and maintain a centralised, yet distributed,
scratch pool while ensuring tape integrity among systems.
Restorations are the key
When you need to restore—whether it’s the entire system or an individual
object—Robot/SAVE is the key to getting back to work fast. Robot/SAVE’s
Guided Restoration process determines the most efficient order to restore
libraries to minimize tape mounts and rewinds. You can restore your entire
system with the touch of one function key. Robot/SAVE’s Object Archive helps
you restore prior versions of libraries, database files, source members,
documents, programs, PC files, object lists, or IFS files. Just locate the
version you need. Robot/SAVE tells you the tape to mount and performs the
restoration automatically.
Ad-hoc tape operations
Not all your tape operations involve backups. For example, commands can write
data to media volumes. These are ad-hoc operations performed outside of
Robot/SAVE. Robot/SAVE monitors the media volumes you use in these operations,
preventing users from overwriting valid data, and manages the expiration dates
for the volumes.
New Version 10.0 brings:
- The ability to resume multi-library backups
from the point where it was stopped;
- An advanced Robot/GUIDE process for guided
setup and configuration;
- Backup of active Domino databases allows
users to backup their Domino mail server while it is active and files in
use. Users do not have to sign off.
The ultimate in automation
Team Robot/SAVE with Robot/SCHEDULE, Help/Systems’ job scheduler, and your
backup procedures and tape management reporting become automatic. Robot/SAVE’s
Restricted State Utility even lets you schedule commands, such as SAVSYS or
NONSYS, that need to run in a restricted state.
Team Robot/SAVE with an automated media library
(AML) and you’re ready for completely unattended backups. Robot/SAVE supports
these popular AMLs:
